3. What it means for NepWalk
| Finding | Implication |
|---|---|
| USA is the 3rd-largest single country (93,241 in 2019) and was 2nd in 2021, recovering faster than China | Supports a USA-first focus for marketing and the beachhead (B5). India and China are bigger but need different channels, languages and price points. |
| Average stay is 12 days | Fits the 7–10-day itineraries (Pailas) and the church group's 9–10 nights. |
| 77% arrive by air | The airport pickup is NepWalk's first moment with most travellers — worth getting perfect. |
| Ages 31–60 are the majority | Comfort, clear plans and safety matter more than adventure — exactly the NepWalk promise. |
| 49% holiday, ~10% pilgrimage | The culture-first day plan fits the largest segment; faith-based travel is a real niche. |
| Oct–Nov and Mar–Apr peaks | Hold hotels early in those months (rule R9 "book early"); spring 2027 groups must be booked by Dec–Feb. |
4. Limits of this data
- Country data runs to 2021; most other charts stop at 2019. Travel collapsed in 2020–21 and has recovered since. Get the latest official figures (2023–2025) (Nepal Tourism Statistics, Ministry of Culture, Tourism & Civil Aviation) during numbers week, 8–14 Oct 2026.
- The report says "due to covid in 2019 the visitor has declined little". That's a slip: COVID hit in 2020. The 2019 chart shows growth for most countries.
- The raw data has gaps: some countries show 0 in early years (Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, Bangladesh, South Korea), and UK 2015 shows 204,469 — almost certainly a data error (UK is ~36–63k every other year). The sheet's own note says its "Total" row is not valid; use "Total Given".
- "Others" groups many countries and cannot be compared with single countries.
5. Recommendation
Use "The USA is now Nepal's second-largest source market — 112,316 visitors in 2025, up from 93,241 in 2019" as the market evidence for a USA-first beachhead. For written use, cite the NTB report for the period quoted.
